Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel

After the success of the first movie, Alvin and the Chipmunks have come back for seconds. Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel reintroduces the cutest superstar chipmunks Alvin, Simon, and Theodore, and of course they’re trusty caretaker Dave. But after an accident at one of their concerts, the chipmunks are left in the care of Dave’s young nephew, Toby. Dave also decides that the chipmunks must put aside their superstardom and return to school.  They are then given the task to save the school’s music program by winning a $25,000 prize in a music competition. While the chipmunk’s embrace this task, they also meet some competition. Another musical group, known as the Chipettes, are trying to take the chipmunk’s spot in the music competition.  

This movie is directed by Betty Thomas and has some unexpected stars. Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler, and Jesse McCartney provide the voices for the Chipmunks. Amy Poehler, Anna Faris, and Christina Applegate are the new comers, the Chipettes. The “Squeakquel,” though not as good as the first movie, was still very well done. It had a lot of laughs and moments that would just make you want to go “Aww!” This movie is primarily aimed for younger kids, but I would recommend it for any age group. So go see it and decide which you like better: the Chipmunks or the Chipettes.
