Coach Casey: The new head coach

With the resignation of Coach Curry, Coach Casey was appointed the new head football coach. Central Times got a chance to ask him a few questions. Here’s what he had to say: 

Central Times: “How do you feel about Coach Curry’s resignation?”

Coach Casey: “Coach Curry meant a lot to the team, and he still means a lot. He has a lot of influence on players and coaches, as well as former players and the kids he’s coached.  He also has the ability to mold a good person out of anyone who comes through his door.”

Central Times: “How do you feel about your new position?”

Coach Casey: “I’m excited. It’s always been a goal I set for myself. The feedback from the kids is that they’ve been excited. I’m going to make sure that the kids do the right thing and take care of each other.  Sure, it’ll be a challenge, but I think that they are ready to be pushed.” 

Central Times: “Now that you’re coaching varsity, who is going to coach the Fresh-Soph teams?”

Coach Casey: “Unknown. I’m in the process of figuring it out.  I have to make sure that they are good people and can turn the kids into good varsity players.  I should have the answer in a few weeks.”

Central Times: “Are you going to make any changes in the way things are done?”

Coach Casey: “I think so. Some may be totally different while others may not be so different.  One thing is that we will be physical. We will have great plays Friday nights and we’ll be in the weight room.  We need to be physical, tackle, block and protect the football to win.”

Coach Casey and the team are very excited to begin the new season.  Go Chargers!
